Coyotes in Central Maine
« on: Dec 12, 2012, 11:26:58 AM »
We have a pretty good sized pack of coyotes by the house and i am looking for elimination techniques. I have baited them in the pit a little but neighbors are concerned for their pets so this leaves me woods hunting or trapping. I really wanna beat the hell out of this pack this winter as we are finaly starting to see a few deer back in the area. Thanks in advanced for any advice or ideas.

Read this http://www.myhuntingforum.com/hunting_forum/index.php?topic=7223.0

If you have the space by your house this is the way to go.

if not trapping is second best. Hunting and calling is fun and can be effective.

:o Now if only the trapper that doesn't work for the state could set snares we would be in business.  Tax payer dollars go to a guy to set snares, but a trapper who buys his license can't.  People could be paying the state to set snares >:( not vice versa.

Someone told me that if you shoot 9 coyotes and report them then you get an automatic any deer permit the following fall...is this true?

Yeah I have never heard of it either. I asked a guy at the store that I know if he was pumped for ice fishing season and he replied he was going to focus on coyote hunting because of getting a doe permit...perhaps he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Thanks for all the info. I wish I had the room to put a bait site at the house But i am too close to the neighbors and I really dont want the dogs that close to the house with the 3 little boys outside playing. I shot one dogs 2 summers ago that kept coming up to the road edge and lookin at my wife while she was pushing the baby in the stroller to get the mail. She said she saw him 3 days in a row before she told me. On day 4 he met the trusty 45acp when i took the buggy for a walk. I wish we could snare them cause i could clean house. Thanks again guys for the ideas. I will let u know if I have any success. Gong to start getting my bait together tomarrow. MDH some one was runnin them over here at the house with hounds a couple years ago. They got a couple but didnt even begin to put a dent in the population. Pm me and i will give U all the info for location and access for U am the houndsmen. Thanks again
