Short and sweet
« on: Nov 12, 2019, 04:43:46 PM »
My son’s season lasted all of two hours on Friday, our first chance to hunt.  We had scents out, doing a little grunting and can calling but wasn’t expecting much.  Out of nowhere, a porky little crotch horn appeared in front of us very cautiously, testing the waters to make sure he wasn’t horning in on a big boys turf.  Very proud of my son, waited a good five minutes for the shot he wanted including atleast a minute where they both locked eyes and neither side wanted to give.  The trusty Savage compact 7mm08 got it done once again, five feet and down goes Frazier! ;D.  175.8 pounds, full of fat and acorns.

Ironically,  had it on a camera at a different stand as I would find out the next day when I pulled the card.

Unfortunately my dad wasn't with me when I got my first deer. My brother was,  but I certainly do remember my Dad's excitement when I came home with one in the trunk of my brothers Cordoba! He showed me how to skin it and process it. A lesson....and a way to bond. Memories is what its all about. Being able to share that with your son is priceless! Congratulations to the both of you.

Very Nice! That's a heavy deer! Contrats to you and your son!

I've seen pictures of your son, Eric, in many posts over the years, looks like he's taller than you now.......  ;D 8)

I can’t believe what a difference three years can make Steve,I’m  glad this is the last year we have to share a stand, 6’1” with no end in sight it seems.

First deer at 12, last deer at 15, crazy.

Wow, 175 lb. crotch horn, now that's some prime habitat!
