   NYS NEW HUNTING BAN ON,  HOLDING CONTEST
   
    The legislation targets contests that result in the killing of large numbers of animals such as coyotes, crows, squirrels, and rabbits for entertainment or prizes,
         rather than for
             targeted wildlife targeted wildlife population management population management.

           This law, however, does not ban general hunting or fishing activities.
         It specifically excludes contests involving white-tailed deer, turkeys, and bears,
     as well as regulated fishing contests.
  New York’s move to enact this legislation follows a growing national trend of states banning similar contests.
          Assembly member Deborah Glick commended Governor Hochul for signing the bill,
   highlighting the importance of protecting wildlife from inhumane practices.

           The law is set to take effect on November 1, 2024.
