Well guys, wish I had better news. Should have some points for us but I blew it on a nice 6 in velvet. Right under the tree, rushed the shot and forgot to bend at the waist... I'm adding that shot to my practice routine... :-[

Bummer DD. That is why I practice from a stand. I have had too many steep angle misses. I picked up a cheap ladder stand and it stays up year round for practice.

I'm going to do the same, It was my first time shooting at that angle, Guess I thought it would be easy. Humbling....

Legal 9 but it does have 10. Has a broken g2 but that well over an inch so at least that counts.

Thanks guys. I know I could have went to a spot and took a doe this morning but well, I'm out of shape, fat and sore from dragging him out.

Still plenty of time to fill the antlerless tag.

I got out for a nice long sit Sunday morning in the same tree I was in for the opener and didn't see squat. Got busted from behind at around 9 by something big.... Hit the bleat can 3 times then heard a couple STOMPS about 30-40 yards behind me, I'm tucked into a pine tree pretty good and never saw or heard it, but my bud Rob was in a stand 200 yards from me on a ridge and he said it was a big deer, but he couldn't tell anything more than that. Still plenty thick, looking forward to the trees shedding some leaf's  >:(

I passed on a 6 last night ...... all these QDMA guys have me flustered  :o      It was literally a yard or less from my stand eating weeds and plants.

Actually it was my first sit in a suburban spot that only i hunt and i am confident i will get another crack at him or at least a big fat doe and i really want to spend some time hunting the rut this year and i didn't want to burn my tag yet.

Of course i am having second thoughts .....  it seemed like the face was kind of white / grey and the body was fairly big ......  i'm not sure he gets a second pass  8)
