In Maine our tradition is to open on Saturday,most people are off from work. The kids get to go hunting with dad, they can still miss a day or two if their grades or good. One more day to carry your rifle,whats not to like?There is one problem for people from away,opening day is for residents only!

Ya I kinda of miss the traditional monday opener but if they think it will get more kids in the woods then I am all for it.The thing is the kids who are serious about hunting take the monday opener off, atleast here in the sticks of franklinville.Heck I think sum of the schools in PA have school off on opening day of hunting.
