Title: Buck sign
Post by: Sandman on Oct 13, 2004, 06:48:26 PM
Interesting to me at least.

On my property in the Canadaigua area there have been very active scrapes and rubs for two weeks.
At my buddy's camp in portageville area revealed rubs but no scrapes.
On the land I hunt in Parma has showed no sign at all until yesterday when 3 scrapes appeared in oposite sides of the property and a few rubs.

Pre season scouting revealed a couple of shooters in each location along with typical 1 1/2 year old youngsters.

I guess it shows how the activety can vary from locations.

I am in Wayne County. No scrapes for me yet.

Your observations say to me that the pre-season rut is kicking in. Looking at moon calculations its about right.

Most of the deer I have seen so far are in the usual eat, move, bed routine. Nothing out of the ordinary yet.

Its gonna be a tough weekend to hunt with wind and rain, good luck.

Jon

I have a couple of friends and some relatives hunt on my land but only if they call me first to check on the date. Nothing worse than having your or a friends hunt ruined by unexpected people.
I take it you are from canandaigua? Someday we will hunt.
Passed on a 6 and then two doe before a wet butt sent me home.
