Nice to be back out
« on: Sep 19, 2021, 09:01:57 PM »
Well with work and kids sport schedule craziness, I  finally got to get out for a sit. Man what a sit it was. Wildlife central tonight.
8 Raccoons, 3 Bard owls, hawks, and deer spread out through the evening made for plenty of action.
Bumped what looked like a 4 or 6 as soon as I got to my tree. Around 530 heard some clicking and through the brush with the binos at 80-90 yds had 2 bucks sparring for 10 minutes. The smaller one then came right at me at 100 and stood 15 yds broadside. Little 4 point about 110 lbs  he gave me a beautiful shot 3 times but passed on that one, he hung around for  next 20 minutes then went back to other and sparred for another 10 minutes. Very cool to watch, don't get to actually witness that too often. I never got a better look at the other but I believe was bigger, he appeared to win the battle both times.
Finished the night off with a big hefty doe at 80 yds but she wouldn't come any closer.
Interestingly enough more raccoons surrounded my tree as I was getting down, almost had to beat them off with a stick...lol
All in all, great way to start the season.
Now for the big boys to come by.
Good luck to everyone this season!

Sounds like a great time spent in the wood.
I still have to wait 2 weeks.  Hope the mosquitos 🦟 are gone by then…

Sounds like some good action! Doe with a skipper Sunday morning but that was it. Was out behind my house on Thursday evening sitting in my stand when it occurred to me I hadn't bought my archery licenses yet.... :o whoops! (I must have been feeling cheap this January when buying the hunt/fish combo). Tried texting the wife in the house to see if she could log on and do it for me but she didn't get to her phone in time.  I figured probably best climb down before that 8 pointer I have on camera comes strolling through and I really feel like an idiot or do something questionable that lands me on North Woods Law.

Ayup. Didn't see it coming but Got lucky today. No football practice on Mondays so I snuck out.
Had a decent buck come through the brush 50 yds out. Counted at least 6 points, coulda been more, he just didn't wanna show.

Had a last chance to hunt this morning before I head out in a few days for a week up in the Burg.
Braved the pouring rain early and put an average doe in the freezer. Ice is broken....
