Out west here long shots are sometimes the norm. I shot a .270 exclusively for years and routinely took antelope out to 350 yards and a bear once at 370 yards. A few seasons ago I picked up a .300 WSM and put a 3x9 Burris balistic plex scope on it. So far I have killed several elk with one shot each, and a couple whitetails and antelope. IMO one of the best long range rifles around. With that ballistic plex scope I have no problem putting them in the kill zone up to 400 yards. Everything that's shot with it dumps hard!!Here's a mule deer that my buddy shot with my rifle last season at nearly 400 yards. We waited this buck out until the last 5 minutes of light and he decided to take the shot with my rifle when we couldn't get any closer. He took a solid prone rest, shot, and all 4 legs went in the air! Those ballistic plex scopes are awesome when combined with a quality range finder.
