Dom, can you preserve them or do you have to use them right up? I dehydrate portabellas and white button shrooms for soups, stews, and sauces. Do you think that would work with puffballs?

I gave half to an old timer (dads  friend)  and cooked some and saved some in the fridge..   I will cook the rest up tomorrow...
I don't know how it would be dehydrated but I bet it  would be good..

Good luck! I actually think these would be better sauté or blanched and frozen than dried. Same deal as a chicken of the woods.

Sliced 1/2" ,egg bath, dipped in Flower or what ever, seasoned bread crumbs, crushed up crackers or what ever.. Fry in butter.. Eat them that way but I like to bake on a cookie sheet after frying till a little crisp..

Found this nice one on Saturday and when I reached down to pick it I couldn’t believe what was on the top. Than noticed what was on the side..
The top had a perfect , what I think is, a coyote paw 🐾 print.
Not sure about the scratches on the side…
