Finally scored on one last. I've  harvested 3 does with the bow so far, but finally some antlers ;D He was  a 3 1/2 year old , with a respectable 4 x 4 . I'm here to tell ya that hunting Whitetails with a bow is totally awesome. I got a 3 year dose of adrenaline is less than 60 seconds. What a blast. The old heart is still catching up. Two more doe tags to go ;D I'll post pictures soon.

I'm hunting on private property and they don't seem too keen on allowing treestands (probably some form of liability) so all my w/t hunting is done on the ground. I built a ground blind out of cut limbs etc. and created and wall of follage. In previous years they would always bust me as I drew. This  setup is about 6 yards from a well traveled path from bedding zones through a swamp and out into the ag land feeding area. Its really cool because you can hear the deer walking through the water before you can see them. In my opinion it is a far bigger challenge on the ground with a w/t vs. in a tree stand. A doe I shot last year came through the swamp and into my shooting lane ,12 yards max, she was perfectly broadside as I released the arrow. In the time of the arrows flight , she rotated nearly 180 degrees towards the direction she had just come. I released the arrow at her right sided vital zone and the arrow hit her from the left side rear ribs and stopped in her front shoulder :o Thats awfully fast folks. Too be honest, I had a friend show me his tree stand set up and it scared the crap out of me. 25 ft from the ground and one on the screw in foot pegs falls out. No biggy he says , just keep 3 points anchored and you'll be ok. well then you have to transfer from the steps to the actual seat platform. I couldn't get myself to do it ::) Then he descibes a fall out of this same set up, "Just make sure to push away from the tree when you fall so the steps don't rip open your belly :o NO THANKS. Maybe a ladder stand someday, but never a setup like that.

Any advice on a good digital camera? Nothing fancy, yet reliable. I've heard the real issue with digitals in battery usage?

I have one recommendation about cameras.... If you are taking it on the water, spend the extra money and buy a waterproof camera. Drop your camera in the river once and it's ruined. Just my two cents...
