We headed out at first light this morning, my buddy Kevin,RJ(my dog) and myself. We only had about an hour and a half to hunt so we hit it hard. It started with a couple of single woodcock and then we got into a spot that had a handfull of birds. We dropped one then RJ went to get it and on her way back with bird in her mouth she locks up. Bird goes up and I had no shot Kevin goes to shoot and had a problem with his gun. We are laughing and she is still parading her trophy around. She ended up pointing again with that bird in her mouth. We ended the morning with 3. There was a nice buck bedded in my cover, it was awesome watching him go across the field with his rack held high and the sun beating on him. Here's a couple pics I did not take many today. Here is a picture of Kevin from one of our hunts last week. When Kevin went home a buddy from Freeport made the trek out here. We put some miles on looking for birds and came up empty handed. Rj did point a rabbit and I dumped it.There was a huge owl that flew and landed about 40 feet from us. We fed the rabbit to him(I hope it ate it any way). We tossed it within 5 feet from him and he stayed there and watched us walk off. Wish I had taken a picture with RJ and the rabbit hanging out of her mouth. |
