Those deer were killed in hardwood cuts, I shot one of them at 20yds while he was following a doe and eating rasberry bushes. Had to wait for him to turn his head so I could pull up and shoot. If it wasn't for the cuts here, they would have had a rough time finding food, because it was a bad nut year. Northern Maine doesn't have any oaks, and the beeches are spotty and don't produce every year either, so that's what we look for is a cut that 2-3 years old, deer will be bunched up in/aroud it.
