We treed one coon hunting like 4 years ago in the bergen swamps, called the dec and said it was a bob cat, bull it was right in front of us

Should have shot it then because Cougars in NY are becoming like Bigfoot...Not saying it's not possible but there is zero to no proof...

Last fall a friend said her husband got puma on their cam in Hamilton county,said she would have a print made for me to see,I couldn't wait to see it.
she brought it in ,,and it took about 3 seconds to tell her it was a fisher--!!!!!!!!

Most sightings are just that Joe, mistaken identity.
I've seen a couple bobcats the last few years that were big. But the tail gives them away pretty quick.
Can remember driving an old road in Newcomb with my Dad as a 7 or 8 year old. We did see something go across the road out in front of us that was pure black with a very long tail. But no clue as to what it was, could have just been a really big fisher. Distance away from it made it hard to accurately judge size/height.
