It can definently work, visual aids are great, they cant really tell what another bird it from far away without sound or if they see the fan. I have called a few birds in only using a hen, but if they see another hen moving you are usually boned. I have a few decoys, use them sometimes. Calling in the woods brings them in close without the need of a visual aid, but field hunting with a decoy is nice
