I have heard and saw it quite a few times. Usually it's a young gobbler, I can't recall
seeing an old bird gobbling in the fall. Just last week I was observing a flock
and the young gobblers was fanning their tails and gobbling quite a few times each. I
don't know if that is how they establish the pecking order or not, but there has to be
a reason for it.

they were 3 mature toms. they went 20lbs or better. i was in my stand and they went by about 60yrds. real nice. it just threw me cause i never heard them gobble in the fall in the 27yrs that i have hunted. i guess you see and learn things everyday while out in the woods. never a dull moment :)

Has anyone actually gotten a bird this fall?
They seem to have dissappeared around here.

I could have killed lots with my bow this year. The other night I had at least 10 gobblers in one group traipsing around my tree. Figures that I'm not a turkey hunter.....yet.
