nothing here from bbbletchworth. I didn't even get out. Spent all weekend cutting firewood for next year. Some for this year but most for next year. Great weekend for working, nice and cool.

Hunted behind my camp in Johnsburg and passed on I think was a small male been seeing him on the trail cam every weekend i check it.  i have shot a few so waiting for a decent one,  Shot one out of the same stand opening day last year early bear and had a full body mount, so my next mount would be a bear rug.  Also just got back the report DEC gives you when you shoot a bear in NY and they age it for you and found out he was a little over 2.5 yrs old and that age may just left his mother.  The berrries are gone in my area and they have been hitting the acorns hard,  we heard the bears at night in the oaks and walked the area on saturday afternoon and there where thick oak branches broken off from the tops of multiple trees and scat all over the place.  i hope they stay in that area for a little bit and maybee next weekend i can get a chance at one.

About 8 miles from my house Don.... Go to a camp off route 8 across from 11TH mountain. Where I shot my only bear, my brother shot two in there.
Good country, rough but good.

Hey Upstate my camp is right in front of the 11th mountain range, yes it is a good area but tough but this is where real hunting happens.  You have to hunt hard and put in your time and hopefully it will pay off.
