It doesn't open until April 30th down here. I thought NY season opens in mid April? April 16th?

Just curious how everyone scouts for their birds....I beleive in LOW impact scouting...taking walks thru the woods full camo...NO calling, just Listen and look for scat, tracks, feathers, and roost trees.

As the season gets closer i get someplace high and listen in the evenings for them to roost and make notes of approx locations , mid day i usually stroll around a little bit looking for sign.

I don't have many places to turkey hunt, so there isn't really a need for scouting.

trouble with my spots are large expanses of woods...have to be in the right place at the right time..but that goes for almost anyone...

The only scouting i have ever done for turkey was about a week before the season opened. I never really got into turkey huntin until about 2 or 3 years ago so i'm pretty new to all this. This year i will be out there walkin around and looking and listening and a little calling as the season gets closer.
