id like to know the live weight of the deer in your region.....our sitka blacktails, depending on the island, range from 120lbs to 250lbs. with the smallest coming from Prince William Sound and the biggest from Kodiak Island.

LOL, Most around here average 120 to 165 for bucks, some in the 200 range. Doe's are 100 to 150, then you get doezilla, like my son shot that went over 170. Central Adirondacks.

My brother shot a 7pt a few years back and it dressed out at 210 lbs. The biggest body deer the oldtimers said they have seen in years.  Add another 35lbs or so for the guts and you have one big deer. The rack has a 19" inside spread and looks to small on the massive head.

In our area the "averag" buck dresses around 120 - 145, add 30 or so pounds for guts and you're looking at 150 - 180. North of here 20 miles you get into the mountains and the deer average 40 - 50 pounds heavier. Love Adorondack bucks!!!! My biggest was 208 dressed add guts and you're talking 250 on the hoof.

Not sure on live weight but an average 8pt white tail here would be 150- 180 dressed, so whatever that equals out to in live weight, there are also a lot of bigger bucks that push 200 dressed, biggest ive heard from in my area were 270 and 250 dressed, a 13 and a 14 point

If I remember correctly, they were trying not to mess up the area they were hunting in.  Figured they'd bring the gut pile somewhere else to keep the coyotes away from the deer.

I can understand that but there was no metion of it in the post , we never gut deer at a permanent stand but that is the only reason , not to see what they weigh with the guts in them, guts are guts.Anything that hangs done in them are guts.should be fed to the critters.BB

My biggest is 221lbs dressed out of the ADKs, and I've killed  5 or 6 in the 170-185lb range dressed. The big ones are out there, just have to get to them early in the season ;D
