Title: My buck and his defeat/win!!!! My brag!!!
Post by: loonyone on Oct 03, 2011, 03:08:14 PM
Most of you dont know my sons history but he was born 652 grams not even a full pound so I have a huge brag.....One of a few braggin rights we all take for granted.............Anyways......my son has moderate cerebral palsy and was told he would never walk, talk, learn and the like....so he did walk and talk graduated high school with a regents diploma and gets around quite well but a bit  sloppy....he is now 21 and finally was released from doctors to try for his drivers license....Today was his test!  He passed and now is officially a licensed driver in NYS and I will say watch out.....one more mile stone to get a little more independant....now he has a car and OMG Im gonna crap now that he can go on his own!  Anyways we all get to brag a little and thought this was appropriate to add to this as he is my little buck and he has a few horns now..................Just thought I would do some bragging!

Congratulations, Can't imagine how proud and nervous you are. That's awesome that he's exceeding all the "experts" expectations and doing so well.

Congrats to you and your son on his accomplishments. I myself know of the long road small babies have in their life. I work for the NY state newborn screening program. It is a heck of a mile stone.

Loonyone, I say kudos to him.  I am a Special Ed. teacher and I love it when my students accomplish things they were told they couldn't, I bet that same feeling must be multiplied by a 1,000,000 for you!

That's a Great Story!! You are a Great Parent for being so supportive and being in your child's life.  Being an educator, I see too many children with disabilities and/or behavioral problems not get the support they need at home to succeed!!  You are a GREAT PARENT!!!  ;D

Congrats to your son on this huge milestone.. :)

U should teach parenting classes. The lack of supportive hard-ass boot in the bum style of good ol fashioned parenting has def created a lazy generation.
Keep up the good work loony. Before  long your spike horn will be a 10 point

lol then if he becomes a 10 point that makes me closer to OLD......think i keep him spiked for a few more hundred years...........I am not teacher RR...but thank you most people think I am to harsh cause he is disabled and I treat him as normal as possible.........however I brought him up the way my Mom did me and whether he like it or not.........the boot has spoken.........more than a few times and  it keeps him moving in the right direction from sitting in front of computer and not working....he even has a job a couple days a week...now I need full time job for him and an apartment, girlfriend, kids, but I WILL NOT GROW OLD while he does this stuff.....lol just kidding....I hate growing old.....I might be growing old but I WONT GROW UP!..(does it show)

" the boot has spoken"

Hahaha that got my vote for best one liner in 2011.

Your right on,  Growing older is inevitable. Growing up is optional!

Congrats to you and your son!!!  Went through a lot of the same stuff with my daughter.....she was 2 months early....
Started at 3lbs and went to just under 2 from a staff infection at Albany med....Spent the first year of her life in the hospital, then the next year in and out....she was on a heart monitor for two years....Slept on Dads chest most nights.....So I could hear the alarm and wake her to start breathing again.....But now she is 25, married and a 4 year old son of her own.....Time sure flies!!
Enjoy all of his accomplishments in life....you formed the base for them!!
