Title: Mosse siting
Post by: 30-30 on Aug 18, 2011, 06:04:12 PM
A couple weeks ago I was driving down route 30 between Tupper Lake & Long Lake & I spotted a moose crossing the road. My 1st moose siteing in N.Y.. Anyone else spot a moose in the state. It was a small cow & no other moose was w/it. It's encourageing to spot one. :)

Years ago my wife worked on a horse farm near Schylerville. A cow wandered into the horse pastures and dwarfed the horses (which were thurbreads!)

Freshman year at Paul Smiths ('90), one walked through campus late at night.  Some of the guy in the dorms were awake and saw it.  Rest of us just saw hoofprints the size of dinner plates in the morning.

O OK so they are pretty rare JW. We have a ton here in NH compared with Ny's acreage. I would of thought it the same out there.

yeah i know!! it was pretty neat to see that guy, haven't seen hide nor hair of him since though.i guess a few of the neighbors have still been seeing tracks so i'm sure hes still kicken around.

freaked my wife out when she first saw him.he was about 10' from my house, she looked out the kitchen window while doing the dishes and there he was just staring right at her, then just kind of moseyed around my field the kids got pretty excited and i think that kind of scared him off....can't say as i blame him my kids scare me too  ;) 8)
