ar-7 explorer

hey rg what is your opinion on an ar-7 explorer also it keeps jumbing on me but i guess i should expect that ive had it for 30 yrs jeeze im getting old
or anyone elses input would be helpful i know this gun was never misused i bought it new when i was 13 yrs old

doesnt jamb every shot just every four or five shots it will not fully eject and try and feed another shell at the same time

Sounds like the bolt isn't traveling back all the way all the time. It's most likely dirt,lead accumulation. Clean it!

It could also be a stuck or sticky extractor...the ejector could be worn or there could be a burr or wear in the action that's slowing down the bolt speed. Have you tried some high velocity ammo like CCI Stingers?

i will tear it down and clean it and try some stingers thats what i thought it might be cheap ammo

Look for wear and tear in the receiver...check for areas that look hammered or worn....smooth out any burrs or impact marks you find....clean all the nooks and crannies. The wax coating  manufacturers use on cheap lead bullets to keep them from corroding builds up everywhere. Get in there with a pick of some type and clean it out. Solvents don't touch the stuff. I use dental picks I get from the dealers at gun shows.
