.17 Mach 2?

I bought a new .22 two weeks ago. They were trying to sell me a .17 Mach 2?
I think it was a .22 necked down to a .17. I wasn't really interested at the time but does anyone have any info? Speed, cost of ammo, etc?

Around 2000fps and about $5.95 a box/50. I'm waiting for Taurus to make their Tracker in 17 Mach 2....bad news for squirrels.
