LMAO!!  Good one RG!!

Kidding aside, do you have any experience shooting the .223 or .243 SS Mags?  They look like pretty neat cartridges, just wondering how they preform.

PA,
Not enough to convince me to build one. They're getting a lot of press, but there's thousands of incredibly accurate cartridges out there already.

Ever seen a 25-458?
It's a 1000yd demon....sub moa with little effort.

I believe it's the industry's attempt to stimulate interest. Rather than produce a better quality firearm.... they pop out new cartridges trying to grow a market for new firearms.

No, but I bet it is impressive!! :o  All of the guys I know that shoot long range competition seem to have .30 caliber or larger rifles, a few have .50 BMGs. :o  I would think the higher BC of a heavy .257, .260, .270 or .284 would be more stable and accurate at those distances.  I've always had an interest in home grown and wildcat calibers.  If I had more time I would really like to get involved in long range competition.  Maybe someday.

Start simple,
Go with a 25-06 or .308 and see where your shooting expertise ends. Not too many guys can be efficient at 1000yds. Usually the gun's capacity for accuracy far exceeds the shooter's ability.
It's a heck of a lot of fun anyway.

RG, do you know of any 1000 yard ranges in southern NY?  I would like to try shooting at that distance  sometime.  600 yards is about max anywhere I have access to shoot and that is a long ways :o I can't imagine 1000!  My .308 is a Savage 99c and I don't think it would make a very good long range rifle ;D but I'd like to try with my 7mm STW.

I know there's a few...one in Williamsport I believe.
Try searching "1000 yard range P.A." or something like that. I'm sure you'll get some hits.
