Stoeger Model 2000
« on: Sep 09, 2004, 05:15:43 PM »
Hi guys (and gals?),

I have been pondering the purchase of a Stoeger 2000 in 12 guage for ducks and geese.  I want a semi-automatic, but I am a teacher and therefore, have little money.  What do you know about these guns?  Are they worth the money, or should I hold out for something better?

Thanks,

TroutKing

Hold out for something better.
Search the gun shows for a clean used 1100 or 11-87. At least when they break you'll be able to get the parts and service if you need it.

Beretta/ Benelli is a royal pain  in the butt to deal with. They're service after the sale stinks and the company is in the throws of serious growing pains with their recent acquisitions.

Better yet take a look at Mossberg's new 935. It's a great gun value with Mossberg's excellent service to back it up.

  • Jigwiggler doesn't really apply here.

I have several Mossberg pump guns and love each of them.  I've also heard very good things about the new 935.  I know several people who have purchased the reasonably priced Charles Daly semi and really like them after several seasons of trouble free use.
