I'm a Mainer made the jump over to this from the fish finder forum.  I'm into all sorts of outdoor activities, but my last week was spent chasing bears and managed to bag my first one.  Getting the itch to go back to the birds and getting ready for deer season now.  Need to find the time to get back after the ducks and find some grouse and woodcock.

I'm happy with it.  It went 220lbs dressed, I'd like to get the hide tanned but the taxidermists I've talked to thus far have been pretty expensive.  I will probably end up having to send it away but that is also quite pricey from what i've been able to find so far.  If anyone has ever had a hide tanned I'd be interested in the information on sending it out and how it turned out.  Feel free to PM me the details.  I'm definitely going to have to take time off next year and bear hunt, next year could be the last year of bear hunting with bait, hounds, or traps in Maine.  The referendum is coming and it's possible we get left with the short straw.

I  had a rug made from my bear 2 years ago, it cost $750. I just sent the $75 a month and by the time it was done, it was almost paid off, oh I put a $100 down when I dropped it off.
