So thursday I see a real nice buck with a large rack while scouting and jokingly tell my friends "I am gonna kill that buck Saturday!" I still figured what is the chance of this buck still being around the area in two days? So saturday morning rolls around and I am set up on a nearby field edge at 6 am. 7 am shows up and nothing has came around so I am ready for a little still hunting but before I leave I decide to scope the field edge just in case. As I am looking around I notice a rack about a hundred yards away just inside the woodline! I new right away that it was a decent deer and the deer was skittish and was turning to leave so I slipped the safety off, put the crosshairs on the ribs and touched one off! The deer ran directely away. Followed the trail for about 80 yards with not a sign of blood so I went back to the shot seen and still no sign of any hit! I figured I better check one more time the way I saw him run and found him piled up in the trail about 20 yards beyond where I had stopped before! Wouldnt you know it was the same buck I had seen two days prior to the season! Big 8 point, 196 lbs!
& Chucky is up in Maine, probably hasn't seen a thing.
