Hay Guys this is the one of the reason why me and Lance took a walk yesterday
He cut down a tree and moved a rotten stump and these come pouring out of
the ground . All different kinds some of brass and a lot of live ammo ; 8 .57 ; 6.5
45-70 ; 30/30 ; 32 ; 9-mm ; 7mm mag ; The 8.57 witch I have never herd of &
the 6.5 had clips and were all rusted up witch you can see in the last pic
Got me confused as to way some one would bury them & way
How should they be disposed of ; Stuff been there a while

you should be able to scrap the empty brass, got a guy @ the gun club that comes up to dig through the trash more then he does shoot. Don't know about the live stuff, chances are pretty good that the powder has soured with the moisture I would imagine......? Don't know if Lee or another manufacturer makes a tool to seperate the bullets so you could empty the charge...?

That is pretty wild. Possibly someone was just trying to dispose of the old ammo. Obviously they did not plan on using it again as they apparently made no attempt to protect it. How does one properly dispose of old live ammo anyway? jperch

Old time hunters and trappers used to stash all kinds of things in hollowed out trees and stuff. I wonder if it is a left over stash.

It looks like some shell containers are Styrofoam, that might help date it. jperch

Doomsday er, or militia.....Cousin found a stash of 55 gallon drums full in Mass. in the mid 90's.....But they had weapons as well....buried in a dry creek bed, on the side of a mountain....then rains came....brilliant!!
Turn it over to the cops...let them have the headache....

He already did call them and they don't want nothing to do with it , Only way they would if there were guns buried as well

That's odd. You could ask a few local shops/reloaders and see if anyone wants the them for the brass.

I buried a coffee can of ammo in the woods behind my house once,I bought 300 reloads from an old friend, they were 38's and 357 mags, the first shell went boom, the second went kaboom, the third went BOOOOM and almost knock me over the next one went pop the next went snap and the bullet got stuck in the barrel--that was it,,out they went in the woods...
