Vaca goes way too quick. But had a nice 5-6 days in the north country paatridge huntin. Real Tough year for them thunder chickens compared to last year so far(or any other). Probably the worst weve done in 20 years. There's birds but not nearly the numbers in my experience. It's still early season but The toughest part is this year the leaves are hanging on way longer. And there's been no hard frost yet to get birds going and to drop leaves. Sucks when you flush and can't see a damn thing for a shot. Weirdest part is absolutely zero birds seen on the road all week. Hopefully this all changes for anyone heading up that way.
We put boots to the ground hard, lots of miles, lots of pushin. 65 hours, only 51 flushes(compared to over 100 last year). 1 snowshoe.
Birds taken - 16 :'(
Birds or not, always enjoy the mental reset up in God's country.
Still enough for a few tridge meals

Now back to finding some time to bag a few more deer.

Plates looks great! Always a blast up there. I too can’t believe how many leaves are still hanging

Looks like a fine meal made. It sure had been a warm start to fall

Any hunt is better than being at work. Good job getting out. Buddys are heading to Errol this coming week may try to sneak a couple days off.
