Title: 2016 moose hunt

My mother got drawn in the nh lottery this year for zone E3. She spent all summer practicing with a 280. She is not really a hunter used to rabbit hunt back when we had dogs but that 20 years ago.

 My parents spent a bunch of hours scouting the area and had some decent spots lined up. I went as the camera man and to be there to help in recovery and the fact that i really enjoy moose hunting.

 I will say this all the talk is how the population is hurting. They are right. I have been on my fair share of moose hunts and a lot of places we check that should be holding good numbers they weren't there. There are moose around but you had look a little harder and cover more ground.

 We did manage locate a few in a few areas but thank god they only gave 2 permits for that zone. Granted its a big zone but with all the mountains and miles of unhuntable land it would get crowded in the good spots.

 She put a great 2nd shot on this bull(her first shot just  scared him a little) 1 well placed shot with a 150 grain 280 had him buckle then stumble 30 yards before tipping over dead.

 We got him on national forest land so we had to quarter him and pack him out. We used a chain saw wench to get him up on good ground so we could work on him. It was sunny and 70 degrees out so we went as fast as we could but still took us 5 hours of back breaking work to get him back to the truck, but it was worth every drop of sweat just to see the excitement on my mothers face.

We didn't get a weight on him but we are guessing around 600lbs

Estimated at 3.5 years old
