southern slopes

i have a problem figuring this out every year ,by this i mean it is said  that deer usually bed on southern slopes in winter months  so exactly what is this southern slope ..so if i am facing east/west and turn to face north/south  where would the southern slope be in direction..never have tried to figure this out until io read in a couple books thet southern slopes is where to look for deer in winter months ....is this because the sun hits there most ......just confused

The southern slopes are where they would prefer to bed. Look to intercept them traveling to and from the beds. If you try to walk in there to shoot one you'll most likely just push them out.
