Title: Removing breech plug / Muzzle loader
Post by: SHaRPS on Nov 01, 2019, 09:51:11 AM
Are there any safety concern while removing the breach plug and there is still powder or pellets as well as a projectile in the breech? Obviously you dont want to be running around with a lighter or smoking while doing it but any chances of it accidentally discharging? Any tips?

Not a big deal buddy, I mean make sure you get rid of any static but it’s fine. If it’s powder though it’s gonna suck to get out of your threads after :-\

No its pellets. Either way I have a specialty brush that cleans my threads. I just want to clean the gun tonight and reload it for tomorrow. All of the old timers i know would just blast that load from last year. LOL

Yeah all the old timers here are the same way. You can learn a lot from them by shutting up and listening but that’s not one of the good habits  ;D

I unload mine the day after the season ends or the day after i score with it ( never walk up on a animal unloaded)

That can ruin a gun with the corrosion and pitting it can cause. Accuracy surely suffers.
