Man you guys are lucky to have elk. Once in a while if we are lucky we'll see a moose in NY but we can't hunt them yet.

Sweet pics! I have friends that go out your way to hunt them and they absolutley love it!

I hope someday they will restore the Elk to NY. They talked about it for a while, but I am not sure whatever became of it. Hopefully the PA herd will wander north and get established!!

Last time they introduced elk into NY in the 1940's and everyone was shot within months by poachers.

I'd like to think that things have changed a bit, since 1940. If the reason that they won't try again is because Poachers will get them all, then we have bigger problems than I thought in our Enviromental Conservation Department.

I guess I won't hold my breath, since we can't seem to keep our deer managed properly.  ::)
