DIY non-resident hunt
« on: Oct 19, 2007, 10:39:56 AM »
I will start off by saying that i have never been to alaska, but i want to go very badly. I have read extensively about all different types of hunting in alaska and find all of it fascinating. But after looking into my options regarding guides and outfitters, and calculating logistics of traveling all the way up there from here (southern maine) I found that the financial part of the trip is just not possible. I have spent my whole life in the woods of maine, and have no problem camping out for extended periods of time or living out of my truck. I don't mind the cold, or the rain, or the snow (being from maine im kinda used to it), and i have a heck of a lot more time than money so basically what I'm getting at is i need some suggestions for some good DIY hunts that would take a week or two where me and a buddy could camp out (or maybe a really cheap motel) and hunt and fish to our hearts content for as little money as possible. Thanks in advance for any help i can get.
