Dove Hunting
« on: Sep 02, 2011, 08:56:53 AM »
Well went out last night to try my luck at bagging a few of the little birds that fly really fast.  Drove into the area and there were doves every where.  The wind was blowing some, but the doves were flying by fast and furious.  Got set up and was able to shoot at a few birds, then we sat around and waited and waited, seems like the birds were hunkered down in the wind, but several people were out walking so at times it was really exciting, 10 to 15 birds flying at one time.  Could not reload fast enough.  But ended up getting eight birds last night, really not bad since we only shot about 75 rounds between 4 of us.  Lost a few birds, even the dogs could not find them in the deep cover or they glided into the river and the dogs could not get to them fast enough before they were swept away.  Should have had at least one limit oh well that is how dove hunting goes.  Forgot the camera last night so no pictures this time, hopefully we will have bull elk pictures next weekend when we are able to get out and chase them. Good luck to everyone out there.

Congrats gettting a few is better than none any day. Always wanted to hunt doves looks like a blast. My brother in kansas says there's doves everywhere. Good luck getting a few more of them bet they're hard to hit and hopefully an elk
