Bear season 9/1
« on: Aug 29, 2019, 04:23:07 PM »
Anyone else giving Yogi a go beginning this Sunday in NH? Whether it be by stalk, bait, or hound? What say you?

I will be on a bait site beginning Sunday and will be stalking a tad further north in between action there until archery for deer opens.

It’s a lot of work, I enjoy it. Makes the archery season get here that much quicker. I agree nothing beats deer hunting

Good luck all you bear hunters. I have a hard enough time getting ready for deer season, let alone get bait sites out. I've always considered getting a bear tag to have one in my pocket in case one wonders through during a deer sit. I've picked them up on cameras. I've heard mixed reviews on the meat, but I assume like any other game meat it comes down to handling in the field and preparation.

It sure does, many people will say it’s horrible because that’s what they heard yet most haven’t tried it. It all comes down to age, habitat, diet.

If you shoot a bear eating diapers out of a dump it’s probably gonna taste like s**t!  ;D. If you hunt areas where they have nothing but nuts and berries they are phenomenal tablefare.

I personally love it.

I got one down at my place you can come whack. He returned to our feeders last night after taking the summer off.

All kidding aside, it feels like a very early fall this year.

Amen to that! Not a fan of 80 degree Septembers
I can recall dragging a doe out 3/4 of a mile 2 Septembers ago. It was 75 friggin degrees(at 5pm)! Awful. Completely drenched.
Had to get that chilled quick.
.......it's almost here though. That 43 degrees last night felt good.
Good luck this weekend all!
