always full. ide adjust with the power of the shells rather than with a modified shot. I even always keep the full in for ducks

I shoot a full choke with 3.5 inch BB.  I keep the full in for ducks also, and switch to 3" 4 shot.

Do your birds look like Swiss cheese? Thats a little overkill in my books. Then again, the farthest shots I take are 30-35 yards.

a 10 gauge 3 1/2 inch shell is only slightly bigger than a 3 1/2 inch 12 gauge so there really isnt that much difference.....my cousin shoots 3 1/2 inchers for turkeys out of his 12 and i shoot the same length out of my single shot 10 gauge and he can shoot just as far as i can

I meant the 10g full choke part. That's a lot of steel hitting the bird, unless your taking those 50-60yard shots which is not necessary.

The 50 and 60 yard shots are the difference on limits and no limits when it comes to deek shy birds sometimes though.

That's not how i grew up. My grandfather and father both taught me that if they are not feet down over the dekes, don't shoot. Too great of a risk of you hitting them and they fly away and die later on. My father wouldn't let me use anything over #2 shot for duck and BB for geese, that was to make sure you don't take those long shots. Long shots makes the birds even more decoy and call shy and ruins it for everyone.

That is why I hate hunting the marshes on weekends. Everyone shoots at the birds if they fly within 60 yards of them and it ruins it for everyone, you MAY hit one but chances are you are going to miss and they will never decoy again. If you bring them right in, you may drop 4, 5, 6 or even 7 and that makes it worth it.

we usually let em land right in the spread then pop up and start shootin when they are on the ground it gives you more time to shoot at them because they have to lift off the ground and start flying again.....some people may call it unsportsmanlike but i call it dead birds and less wounded ones
