2011 Montana Deer Thread

Post your deer pix here!

It was tough hunting this year, the lowest deer numbers I've seen in the last 20 years. We hunted 5 days and I bet we didn't see 50 deer. I didn't fill my whitetail doe tag, but I did miss one.  :(



I'll be out looking for elk now, and a buck for the wife. Good luck eveyone!

Looks like you're in headlights so the drag must not have been too bad eh??  Nice rack............tall.....

If you're up this way, give me a call.....I'll take you out for a whitetail doe and we'll fill that tag.......

Actually Robbi, that was a brutal drag- you're seeing the camera flash. It took 4 hours with a game cart, to go only 3/4 mile! Up and down, 2 creeks, several draws, too much sagebrush......  I did get lucky with the mulie doe, all downhill.
 Got into the elk yesterday, saw 30, but no branch-antlers. 3 spikes, cows and calves. I did jump 3 that were bedded, they took me through some horrible blowdown but I had to give up after about 2 miles. Butchering today, may chase them again tomorrow.

BTW Dom, that offer I made about hunting out here still stands for all who helped on the bobber project, keep it in mind, would love to have you out.

The elk have been tough this year, saw 30 the other day, no shooters. Saw 7 today, 1 shooter bull but didn't close the deal.

Chrissy made a cross-canyon shot a hair over 300 yards to get this guy, she wasn't being picky this year as she hadn't shot a deer in a few years.
