Congrats Bullelk34!!  Nice goats!

I took my son hunting with me for the first time and we bagged this nice 14 1/2" antelope in the first few minutes of legal light.  He was pretty stoked to get to go and now it's going to cost me $$$ as he wants a mount in his room!  I think I'll go cheap and just do a horn mount and save the $$$.  I'll put the rest in 'his' hunting fund for his first goat!  Now I just gotta convince him it's a good thing ;)
I think it was good that we got on this buck early as we hunted 'til noon and didn't see a lot of antelope.  The winter really did seem to take its toll on the goat population.  Hope everyone else tags out!  Good Huntin' - OH

4 tags, 4 goats in two days.  We saw a bunch probably over 200 on the BMA we were hunting, but nothing big.  The biggest we saw was probably a 14", the biggest shot was 13" and all of them had broken horns.  Lot of fun though, will get pics as soon as we load them.

Congrats MatCat- as you can see my wife's goat was busted up too. He also had a swollen nose, must have been a fighter. On the plus side, I got them boiled out on Sunday and they were bigger than I thought. Mine was 14 6/8" and green scores over 75, and Chrissy's was 13 1/2". Not monsters but good solid goats nonetheless.

Nice antelope. What is the body weight on those animals? Also how is the meat, eating wise? Someday i want to go out and do a hunt where you can see more that 50 yards where you are hunting.

Thanks Wooly. They're pretty small, I think a big buck usually weighs around 115 give or take a few pounds. As for eating, everyone has a different opinion. My opinion is 9 out of 10 are great, and I like it better than deer. But when you get a bad one, it's horrible. Contrary to popular belief, I have not noticed much difference in taste whether they were running or not before we shot them. Some people say if you run them, they always taste terrible. I personally think it has more to do with what they're feeding on. I fully recommend you give hunting them a try, they're fun to hunt and you always see a ton of them and have plenty of opportunity.

WOW I never seen so much mud, I think you flat-landers are used to it but not me :) Rained 3" before season started and getting around was a challenge to say the least. With the low number of goats and the mud I did have to work a little but did find one.
