Daughter's 2nd Antelope
« on: Oct 20, 2008, 12:10:12 PM »
Took my 13-year old daughter antelope hunting this past weekend.

Couldn't find any great ones, but she shot this 13-incher after perusing many smaller bucks.

One shot at 75 yards with a .280 Remington, right through the boiler room.   We walked a long ways and had to crawl through cactus quite a ways on the final approach and she was quite the trooper.   And she was happy as hers was bigger than the 12-incher Dad shot with his bow.

Thanks guys, she's doing a pretty good job.

She's six for six on game animals so far, six shots = two deer, two antelope and two elk.

She said last night, "Dad, I really want to shoot a big bull this year."

Yeah right, don't we all!   Nothing like putting a little pressure on ole Pops.   Stay tuned, maybe have a new picture after this weekend, but that's a tall order.

I was not much of a shot myself.

I think I missed my first seven antelope I shot at, and it's not like these were running shots, they were standing and I was prone, but WAY too excited and would just yank the trigger.

It took me a year or two before I could shoot worth a darn, she definitely hasn't had that steep of a learning curve.

Good luck this weekend, you headed after the wily wapiti or chasing a big buck?
