I've used to use my Pse Nova stage 3, but then it got to small for me so now, I just ordered a Reflex grizzly package.
What is everyone else shooting?
-
High Country 4-Runner
Single lightning cam, 65lbs with a 29" draw
-
;D I shoot a 20 some year old Pearson Spoiler. It was retired as my bowfishing set up but several years ago my Proline let me down mid-season with limb failure. I brought the old Pearson out of retirement and 2 days later took my best buck ever at the time with it. I have since taken a better buck and numerous doe and continue to use it because of its reliable accuracy and durability. It doesn't keep up with today's bows on the speed scene but serves my needs just fine.
My set up:
Draw weight 80#
Draw length 31"
Arrow Carbon, Beman Hunter (old style, not ICS)
Arrow weight 400 gr including tip
Broadhead 100 gr Rocket Hammerhead
Speed 268 FPS
Release Scott Caliper
-
Hoyt Renegade Raider, 64# pull
Fiber optic pin sights, I forget the brand
Whisker biscuit
100 grain Deadhead Hornets
-
golden eagle preditor 60 lb easton xx 75s 100 grain thunder heads not the most modern set up but it works for me
-
Matthews Z-Max. 70# draw weight, 80% let off, Carbon Express graphite arrows, Spitfire 100's, Trophy Ridge Matrix (awesome! 8)) sight, Whisker Biscuit.
Love this set up! Fast, light, accurate, easy to tune... It's almost cheating compared to my old bow that I've since donated (Martin Lynx).
-
brand new parker buck hunter package with carbon express arrows 100 gr 3 blade muzzys and a patriot release
-
I have been shooting a Bear whitetail legend for about 15 years, it is not the fastest but it is very quiet. My buddies give me a hard time about not getting something more modern but until I have a problem or the arrow fails to blow through the deer I am happy with what I have. By the way I use thunderhead 125s and a flipper rest.
-
PA Bowhunter,
I about fell out of my chair; I shoot the same bow in the lefthanded version. Mine is loud as a son of a gun and has not shot a deer. Some day I will find some time and land to get out again. Do you have any idea of some progress on Sunday hunting?
Mike

Small world Mike! I'm a lefty too! Mine is quite quiet with rubber string silencers and a good vibration absorbing stabilizer. Make sure you have no loose or worn parts. I haven't heard anything new on Sun. hunting. I hope they keep it the way it is, I like having the woods all to myself. ;D Just kidding, I'm all for Sun. hunting and anything else that gets me out in the woods more.
-
Fread Bear recurve when stalking.
Parker 32" Ultralight from a stand
-
a martin speedfire 59 # at 30 inch draw and monster buck carbgon arrows with 100 grain wasp expandables
-
I have a 10+ year old PSE F1 Maxis at 65# with 26 1/2" GT XT Hunter 5575 Carbons and 100 gr 3 blade Muzzys. I use an RS Glow Fiber optic sight and a wisker biscut. With this setup I am still getting close to 250 FPS and use only one pin for up to 40 yards.
-
Left eyed here too, I shoot a Mathews MQ1 I needed the speed and quietness, becuase deer were getting spooked with long shots with my old slow loud bow, I shot a nice do at 37 yards with it, two days after I baught it, I shoot Easton explorer carbons with three blade thunderhead 100 gr. broadheads. This setup is awesome, and I couldn't imagine anything better, or it would be too easy.
MASTERGUIDE
-
Jennings Buckmaster G2, 67# draw weight, 28 inch draw length, Gold Tip Carbon arrows tipped with 100 grain Crimson Talons (100 gr. 3-blade Spitfires is my second choice). Trophy Ridge Matrix Sight and a Trophy Ridge Drop Zone drop away rest.
Fast, quiet and deadly. Its almost not fair. Just ask the Elk.
Killed my 6th bull this year with this set up. He was a 4x5 raghorn or satelite bull and the shot was 19 yards. Got a clean pass through double lung shot and the arrow buried in a tree about 5 yards behind the bull. Those Crimson Talons are wicked little broadheads
-
Hoyt magnatec intruder. Beman ICShunter carbon arrows, 100gr thunderheads, two prong arrow rest (forget the name) and a cobra release. Also, a 3 pin fiber optic sight, (although I only use two pins 20 and 30 yards) I think its a cobra too, but I'm not sure. 65# draw weight with a 29" draw. Kinda quiet no limb savers or anything but I probably should have them installed.
-
well I just got a PSE Bruin 70# 26 inch draw easton xx75 arows with muzzy 125 broad heads not sure if this is good butt it is my first bow and so far I M very happy with it 8)
-
I'm shooting a Martin Panther 55-70# with a whisker biscuit rest and a Copper Johns Dead Nuts sight. Im shooting 2213 easton alumminum arrows with muzzy 125 gr broadheads.
-
Martin Jaguar at 55# and 29" draw. I shoot Easton 2315's for indoors and easton ACC's 3-49 for outdoors and 3D
KRIS
-

-
Mathews Outback with a Mathews LX for a back-up.
-
70# hoyt u.s.a. with 100gr 3 blade muzzy broad heads thinking of going to a merlin after this year
-
i shoot a hoyt havac. with easton carbon arrows along with 100grian thunderhead broadhead. i have fiberoptic true glow sites. i have been thinking about switching to a mathews.
-
junk i dont like them i seen 3 snap last year at the range
-
i have never seen that. my buddy has one and loves it . seems to shoot very well. maybe they did not perform the proper maintance on it ??? if i did switch it would not be til next season. will be a hard decision cause i love my hoyt.
-
maybe all 3 came from moretties in shinglehouse i think its the only mathews dealer in the area but i would rather not chance it if im gonna pay $1,200
-
my buddy got his from belfast.he has been using it for 5yrs now and has had no problems. but you are right about the price. that is alittle steep. i could use that on something better than a bow.
-
well i need a new shanty and a quad also some new trout lures and im looking at the merlin bow my birthday is on july 22 just some ideas for your money ;D
-
you are have to fight with my wife over that. and from what i have seen in 15yrs of being with her. you are going to lose ;D
-
lol you should try the archery shop in olean they have 4-5 different brands of bows and will let you shoot them to see wich kind you like and no where near the price of mathews i like the merlin and martin
-
i may just stay with my hoyt if i decide against the mattews. i bought the hoyt 5yrs ago and paid around 700 for everything. it shoots great. since i switched to the carbons 2yrs ago it seems to be faster even more now.
-
thats what i shoot a hoyt it was found in the ark i think noah used it to bowfish with so its time for a new one but i am very happy with hoyt its a good bow and never let me down
-
haven't missed one yet with it. but now that i said that i will probably miss one this yr and it will probably be the geetchy monster ;)
-
missing isnt the bows fault ive seen people shoot dead on with some pretty beat up bows and those few who have mastered the art of recurves and longbows get much respect from me unless it makes funny noises or breaks its your fault
-
you need to blame it on something, and everybody knows that when you miss it isn't your fault it is always the equipments fault. ;)
-
Ok, it did get better, I switched to the easton axis arrows, WAY BETTER than those explorers. They have a small diameter, and have been doing much better with them. It really does make a huge difference, going from 13 gr. to 9 gr. per arrow. The penetration is awesome, they are worth a try.
MASTERGUIDE
-
I shoot a PSE Fire Flight 33 just bought it this year it will be my first year bow hunting
-
good luck on your first year bow hunting, the only advice i have is practice, practice, practice.
-

my buddy with his mathews Q2,not nocking Mathews, they are nice bows,But i spend countless hours tuning mine up.
-
Knowing your bow and it's limitations is key. The next thing you need to know is the shooter and his limitations. :P
Mike

New last week...Parker Hornet 2 Plus with Carbon Express advantage camo arrows and Montec G5 fixed blade broadheads
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/PIKEGUY/IMG_1285.jpg)
-
Well I am 12 so I shoot a youth bow it is a PSE bandit and I shoot beman carbon arrows ;D,. My draw weight is at 45 lbs already got a turkey with it but can't wait to try it on deer. ;D ;D
-
Martin Sabra!! New last year, one shot one KILL!! ;D
-
I have a Browning Ultra Accelerator that I have used since 1994. It is slow compared to the newer bows but I am comfortable and confident with it. Every time I pick it up and take a practice shot the first arrow goes right where I aimed it (if the target is within 30 yards). So I am going to keep using it until something breaks. Good luck and safe hunting to all.
-
Browning illusion..62#s 28 1/2 inch draw, carbon express maxima arrows with teken2 broadheads by G5.100 grain. trophy taker drop zone drop away rest.
its a shooter. ;) ..i duck hunt to much to ever use it..but god help the deer that finally finds himself infront of it.lol.
-
I replaced my 15 yr old pro line with a PSE Diamond Back 3 years ago. 64# , 29" with 100 grain fixed blade Muzzy's. Hate those mechanicals! I have a Savage pendulum sight. One pin good to 30 yds.

Muzzy 100 gr
Bought the bow in 1993 but cant trade it in cause ive killed too many deer with it including 4 over 200 lbs. One weighing 247 lbs. I just cant give it up, the bows been too faithful. Besides it dont matter what bow u shoot if you hit them right theyre done.
-

-

After owning everything from a pearson fiberglass recurve, to a Hoyt,(my son is still shooting that) including golden eagle and proline and bear and pse. Yes allot of different bows. I now have an alpine frontier. Shoots fast flat and took a four point with it last fall. Real light, short axle length, smooth draw and quiet. Like it so far, it does have a little harder recoil, need tough rest and sight mounts.(broke a rest off at a 3-d shoot). But with carbon express arrows and rage expandables, it does a nice job.

Come on...where are you getting your info?
I seriously doubt that Mathews would make such a mistake. I have shot mine a few hundred times and have had nothing but great response from the Bow.
I did look at some Bowtech Bows and was extremely impressed. Maybe after they are around for a little longer, I might consider buying one. Apparently you like yours a lot and I have heard great things about them from the dealer I bought my Mathews from. They specialize in PSE, Mathews and Bowtech...I think it is a matter of personal preference!!!
-
It's definitely a matter of personal preference! I'm still shooting a High Country Royal Hunter. It's about 20 years old. Still looks and shoots like it just came out of the box. My middle son is a bow nut, so I'm thinking of turning down the draw weight and giving it to him. That way I'll have to go out and buy a new one!
-
