Ive had em all. Theyre all good when they run. If it goes down the road ill drive it but my preference would be toyota. I'lle try any road and it takes a heck of a truck to take my beating.
-
2 thumbs up for the Toyota Tundra (made in America)

yes they are made in america but who do you think gets the profits? (not america)

LOL, yes well, atleast you keep the fix'in and gas'in money in YOUR pocket.
I just want a truck that is well built. Had a ford (I LOVED this truck) and it was a looker not a worker, driving a Nissan now, don't love it but it does most of what I need (except heavy trailer hauling).
-
2004 Toyota Tacoma crew cab v6 TRD off road... love my truck!
-
Toyota Tundra TRD
When you see the bull horns in the rear view, better get out of the way!!!!
-
2003 Ford - 135k miles, and have replaced the breaks once, 2 ignition coils and just put on my 3rd set of tires. Had 3 Chevy's before the Ford and have liked them all.
-
2005 F150, FX4, 4 door. My first new truck and I have no complaints.. So far... ;D ;D ;D
-
yes they are made in america but who do you think gets the profits? (not america)
Actually, it would take North American labor and materials to build those trucks here, that means jobs and wages. People who buy more stuff and pay taxs, those owners make good money, but on the volume of product, not on an individual vehicle.
-
I drive a 2003 ford and have driven ford trucks for the last 14 years. With that said, this will be the last ford i will ever own. Nickles and dimes break banks. I know several toyota owners and they all love there trucks and don't have to deal with the break downs.
-
Dodge all the way my uncle has one my brother did and so did my dad!
-
I'm partial to the big three Ford, Chevy, Dodge. For me its gotta be a full size truck. My daily drivers are fords, but my play trucks got to be chevy's.
love to get a cummins common rail dodge though. Way more cheaper, and less likely to explode like my 6.0l.

Holy cow Issiah, how did you wreck that truck?????
-
Nice looking pickup Issiah, Black is sharp when it's new and clean. It's not so good for a farm truck though, every speck of dirt and little scratch shows. I have an idea this will be my last black truck. Back to red this fall I hope.

1997 K2500 HD, done everything I've asked it to. Just started doing some work to it, alternator and water pump both went last week. Think I'll pay my mechanic to do the water pump, a little more work than I want to do in the driveway.

What the heck do you guys use that beast for???
Ha Ha, That is a "Brush Breaker" they are pretty exclusive to Southeastern and Cape cod Mass. We drive them through the wood's for forest fire's. Lot's of town's buy them brand new built on all wheel drive chassis but our town is poor so we got an excess property Duece and a half, then Had a certain Cranberry farmer and his brothers build it from scratch. They are built and skid plated to drive over trees. I have a link here for you. I have a second one in the works for our other station right now.

No way would NYS ever allow that machine to be in a barn....We get lucky sometimes and the rangers will transport you in.
We left two rangers on a 500 acre parcel that was burning with homes all around it. We had our 6 wheelers going and guys brought their own personal
wheelers to transport help and water. The forest rangers told us we had to get the machines out of there. One company had their old Dodge power wagon.
It carries 500 gallons of water. But the forest rangers could use their 6 wheelers to get into the fire... We all just started packing up and leaving. The poor rangers were dumbfounded. Saying we couldn't leave them there.
We said yup we can, it's state land. We are only responsible for the homes. We'll go watch them to keep them from burning.....They told us the machines could stay.
Nice rig Harrie!! You guys do some great work with metal and tubing!!
Oh and I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota sport and a 1991 Jeep Wrangler...

-

You should look into that further....Toyota has probably the most parts "made" in America, as well as most are assembled in the US.
Second would be Dodge, and then Ford....Chevy falls a distance behind them. Most of the parts and assembly go on in Canada or Mexico.... >:(
-
I love the new Toyotas but there gas milage stinks with that stupid Hemi engin... My 05 f150 4 dr 4wd is still getting over 17 mpg... My brother has a Dodge 4dr 4wd Hemi and gets 11mpg... 8 mpg pulling a boat.. :o :o

totally agree that they toyota is assembled and made here however the profits dont stay here which is most important to me...this is why we are in some of the trouble we in.......and yep most of chevy is assembled and parts made elsewhere .....sword with double edge on both counts....ill stick with american company until our profits go elsewhere...........all my equipment is american company owned and will be until i cant do that no more but i do have foriegn stuff to because I have to.....not want to but have to....just my opinion and appreciate yours...keep them coming...im ok with others and there opinions
-
LOL, I can't say much, I drive a Blazer.... ::) But only because the value of the Chevy is so much lower than the others.... ;D ;D I could afford to buy it used...
I look at who had to be bailed out. Toyota didn't.... Seems like most of the profits of Chevy/GM is either in some off shore bank......or some politicians pocket.... ;D ;D ;D ;D
-

as stated double edge sword and some just got poked a little deeper but hopes that the american companies turn around soon.....ford being the best out of the bail out would be my winner if chosen......politics suck...and so do banks.....lmao
-

FORD didnt.............. ;D

LOL...nope..... ;)

Listen to the chick being all knowledgeable about trucks... ::) ::) ;D ;D
-
I'm currently without a truck. :'( My last one was a 2000 ford F150 that I drove for 9 years without any issues. Just before the 200,000 mile mark the tranny went. We donated it to the kidney cars and took a tax writeoff. Probably should have gotten it fixed, but that truck didn't owe me a thing. In another year we'll be in the market for another truck. It'll most likely be a Ford as long as we can find one in our price range.
Man, I miss my truck. :'(
-

Man, I miss my truck. :'(
A friend of mine is a diehard ford guy. He went to go buy a new F250 loaded ad the salesman told him he wouldn't negotiate the price. He ended up getting a new loaded Chevy for almost 10k less and likes it a lot. The selectable cylinder usage doesn't hurt with gas prices either.
-
No way I could afford a brand new truck. I've never owned a brand new vehicle before. A nice used one in good condition for around 10 to 15 k would be a nice find.
-
ill sell you my avalanche......12 k loaded....probably see it around town tons of times and didnt even know it...orange with gray fender flares and sides.....then i can get a newer one...lol
-
Sounds we're in the same boat, I just decided to keep my 1997 silverado instead up upgrading. I know the truck well and it's been in the family sinnce it was new. If you're in the area I can give you. My friends numbers, he's a great guy that doesn't BS and can pretty much order a used truck to fit your preference.
-
That's tempting! But I've had some VERY bad luck with Chevy trucks in the past. I'd like to try and stay with Ford.
-
When I went to see. Him he had fords dodge and toyota on the lot, just not as many as the chevys. He can order a used car from any chevy dealership, or call you when someone trades in one you're looking for.
-

That sounds cool, just what I'm looking for. When the time comes, I won't be in a rush to get something. I'd rather have someone looking for what I want than to get stuck buying something I didn't just because I rushed the purchase.
-
Let me know when you're ready I'll set you up with him.

Great, thanks!

2005 ford f150 extended cab is my daily driver, while at work i drive a 2008 f350 sd with a 32' altec boom --- Issiah is that a milk tanker hooked to that truck ??
-
Yes, My wife's family ran a milk hauling outfit for many years,, they just sold out not too long ago.
-
i hauled milk for 4 years - outfit i worked for had 4 milk trucks running everyday and 1 every other day plus 3 grain trucks now there is only one milk truck hardly any dairy farmers round here anymore
-
so i'd like to change my vote from chevy to toyota.after working in an automotive repair shop for the last 2.5 years i'v seen all the troubles that happen with certain vehicles.i work as a service manager for this repair shop part of my job has me running VIN codes with tells me everything anyone would want to know about that vehicle.its amazing how many of the "American" vices are built in canada or mexico, and those American vehicles all seem to have ongoing troubles in certain areas like chevy is known transmission and front end problems dodge seems to have some serious front end issues es pically with there front axle u-jhoints and ball joints, and ford has issues with there brake calipers and steering racks.all that being said the toyotas(tundra) that come in seem to have few problems.1 customer who is a contractor and hauls a trailer every day just put his first set of brake pads and rotors on and he is at 133,000 miles that seems to be unheard of on anyother vehicle a few other toyota customers have replaced tires so far and thats it other than oil changes and air filter.last year i bought a new 2010 tundra and i will say that i'll never buy another chevy truck! my toyota deff could out haul any other 1/2 ton truck and will keep up with any 3/4 ton truck, and believe me i'v put it to the test the ride is better than the 08 chev i had and the gas mileage is about the same.if you want to owen a truck and haul a load or whatever than u really shouldn't be to worried about gas mileage anyway its a truck don't expect to get 30 miles to the gallon.oh yes and so far most toyotas i'v come across were built right here on american soil buy an american tax payer and shipped by an american shipping company all of who pay taxes spend there money here in the states

90 % of the time- Welsh Farms in long valley nj , also went to Readington farms periodically . clover farms once or twice {Reading pa} farmland in wallington nj when they were low we wont talk about the cheese plants when the counts were too high . 8) i ran an early truck ,went down @ 4 am loaded and then picked up the next load on the way back ,parked it and did it again the next day.

haha nice...I actually had an old CJ that we used to drive around the farm when I was like 10. floor boards were rusted out so bad you could see the ground when you were driving, and you had to hold it in second gear or it would pop out...haha. I think it was a late 60s early 70s...sold it for $500 bucks before high school. definitely regret that.
Now I am just driving around the 1999 cherokee...love the boxy looking ones, definitley not a grand cherokee guy.

Went through 2 of them. Both got head gasket leaks before 75,000 and the last one's transmission was slipping. I really liked them but no mechanical problems with Chevy so far.

-
I'm with you SOS Chevy all the way 5.3 vortec has done me well......I'm thinking about getting a 2500 series myself for towing the camper....I'm interested to hear how your test drive goes

Toyota? Do they still make them out of recycled soup can's? If you buy a 4 door the bed is the size of a wheelbarrow, Probably because it will only carry the weight of a wheelbarrow. ;D ;D
-
Nothing but Chevy for me ,Fords are HUGE on poor fuel economy ,Dodges sre even worse and I wouldn't by a Toyota ,loyal to American made trucks .Around here it's about 65% Chevy , the other 35% is divided between those who can't afford them and go with Fords ( a lot cheaper here then a Chevy would ever be ) and the few die hards that drive the Dodges ,although most are complaining about the bad milage they get per tank of fuel ! Those that drive Toyota ?? not sure why ,budy bought one and it's milage is about half of what my Chevy gets out of one tank ,and the ride isn't very smooth ! poor choice I'd say

I need a TRUCK....It works everyday. If I needed gas milage I would have bought a Hyundai.... ::) ::)
-
Looking at anouther tacoma need to get 350000 miles out of it where chevy & Ford lucky to get 150000 or you get ford a
and get 9.8 miles to the gal. Chevy 10.9 OH yea I'll get right on it no thanks I'll stick to my Toyota Tacoma 28 miles thank you .... ;D ;D
-
Im getting 17mpg around town in my 4door F150....
-
I get around 14.5 around town with my F350 crew cab. It won't do that towing but neither will a toyota. ;) Hard to beat the Road treatment Grubb,
-
22 with avalanche and 34 with my HHR lol
-
They rust out before you get those kind of miles out of them around here. My 02 Dodge has 74,000 miles and im fighting rust already. I know Dodge is junk but everone has the same problem with the liquid de icer they put on the roads.
I had 234000 on my 2000 Tacoma the frame had a rust hole through it & Toyota gave me $12000 for it, so I went out & bought a new 1 back in Oct. 2011. Will Ford, Chevy or Dodge do that, I don't think so. I get 24 mpg. My son has a Tundra gets 17 mpg & he hauls a mini excavator around w/no broblem. Of course back in 1986 I had a Ford F150 of the same year & I hauled a 350 John Deer dozer, I couldn't stop on a dime but I got it stopped when I needed to, I wouldn't recomend to do it every day.

Actually If I could and I hope to soon I would rebuild a 64 to 67 chevy truck ,Now there was a great truck ,with out all the sensors and all the other B/S that they seem to deem that we all want ,yet no one can figure out what to do with them when the go ! Give me the old points and carb and a 350 engine and I'll still do better then the new trucks do and it's made of real steel ,not this recycled metal that rusts away before your eyes

Test drove one a few months ago but the dealer wanted waaaaay too much for it so I told him to go pound salt. 5.7 iforce was very snappy on the highway I will say. Towing, not so sure about
-
How about a good old straight 6... 300 ford or 292 chevy. Those were great power plants.

Buddy of mine has One of those stuck, He tows a 30' camper all over the place. It's just not cut out to haul the weight of a 1 ton though.

woulda loved to tell ya about the test drive, too bad the sobs sold it yesterday! Go figure ??? I was gonna go tomorrow after work to check it out. On to find the next one I guess. My cousin has one, an 06 silverado 2500 dmax very sharp looking truck with lots of torque. He was a little excited when he first got it and roasted the rear tires off within the first 2 months ::)
-
I wont argue that................
I had a 300 with head work,4 barrel carb, headers and a Hi-perf cam in a Bronco in my youth. You couldn't stop that thing. Torque was unreal.
-

or a 3/4 ton even. I want the torque mostly. The cornfields can be absolutely brutal after a rain or snow melt. Don't need to be getting stuck with a Goose trailer on the back :o

I have the 2500 hd silverado 6.0 L gas engine 2006. It is HORRIBLE in cornfields, sinks like a rock, while my other buddies in there micro machine yotas and beaters fly around. Besides that though my truck has done anything I ask it too.
-
Just had a Flashback to my youth..... :'( I had some fun ride's back in the 80's.
-
Me too, I had a sweet car seat ::)
-
LOl we were talking about the Blizzard of 78 and where we all were then at the station. LH said he was still foreplay in 78.

HAHA

that's a real good point AA. Never really thought of the extra weight sinking. Maybe ill buy a tank for goose huntin, bet them tracks wont get stuck hahaha seems like the iideal hunting rig even for deer. No trail through the woods? Throttle down and make one 8)
-
Yup, buy a skiddah! The possibilities would be amazing! Deer round here wouldnt even flinch at the sight of it either......
-

All my Fords were 300 6 cy. oh except I had a 1948 flat head V8 in a dump truck 600 series I believe.
-
Reading all this has me itching to get the project truck ASAP ! Those old motors were great ,and easy to maintain ( although I am still partial to a performance motor......500 to 600 HP ) and you could build them up so easily unlike the new motors ! Doesn't any one have any older trucks ? would enjoy seeing pic's
-
Was watching a show last night and they had a 1967 F250 Camper Special.... ALL ORIGINAL.... And very clean... It sold at auction for $4000... :o :o What a sweet truck.. It looked a lot like this one..
-
And the one truck I will always miss is, in 1985 I bought a 1984 Toyota 4x4 long bed with a 22R motor in it with a 2"lift, from a guy who lost his job and couldn't make the payments....That truck was a beast in the Michigan sand dunes... Had over 200,000 miles on it when I sold it 16 years later for $700..... :o :o But the box was almost completely gone.....
-
Nice looking bog rat Harrie lol...... Bet that truck would go anywhere
-
Sweet pics Harrie! My father has a 1972 chevy pickup that he dropped a edelbrock 454 into. that thing is fast! Gas mileage is about 4 mph though :o
-
I still have this one... ;D

-
Ive had several f-150's,stepped up to a big boy truck and got a 2004 f-250 crew cab 4x4 6.0l diesel, sold that and got a 2001 dodge 2500 ext cab 4x4 with a 24v cummins, picking up a 2005 silverado 3500 crew cab 4x4 with a duramax and allison tranny on friday!
so far my favorite truck is the f-250 plenty of power and plenty of cab room got rid of it because the 6.0l is a nickel and dimer.
the dodge it like riding in a tank and the tranny is a POS
Cant say much about the chevy yet...
ive always been a ford guy and i always will be i think, but figured id give the other 2 a chance before going back to a ford
-
Chevy / GMC here ,father in law is a HUGE ford man ,but everytime I drive his truck I feel awkward ? feels so wrong ! Guess I'm a die hard Chevy man .looking for a 64-67 GMC to fix up as the total truck for me ! I think when they came up with all the censors and stuff they started distroying them
-
I own a 2011 Ford Ranger XLT. Need some advice. I would like to add an extra 4-inch of ground clearance on my truck. What brand of suspension lift kit (http://4wheelonline.com/Suspension_Lift_Kits.24) should I go for?
-
Toyota tacoma 2015 6" rough country i'm 5'-4 " at my chest had to put turn stop's keeped blowing cv joints until putting them on ......
-
went from a 2012 Ram 1500 to a new 2017 Ford F150 this year... love both the trucks but this time around the Ford was the better choice price wise for us!! with the end of year rebates and discounts I couldn't pass up the deal Ford was offering!! only have a 1000 miles on it now so I cant tell you how ill feel in a year from now
-
That sounds like an awesome purchase. Congratz on your new truck Nyduckman!
-
I udes to be a Ford guy for years, until I bought a Tundra last fall. I absolutely love the quality compared to Fords, and I must admit I never thought that Japanese could come up with such a nice vehicle...
-
Got chevy and ford and I'd say both are dependable. I have a ford recently bought and boy it's been amazing specially the upgrades and mileage performance.
-
I'm to customize my Ford F-150 into a more off-road driving capable truck. I already found the lift kit I need but I'm still undecided with the tires I'll be using since there's a lot of good options. Should I stick with toyo tires (https://4wheelonline.com/Toyo-Off_Road_Mud_Tires.25) open country?
