Those things are like Ticks with feathers around here. Around every other tree.

We can shoot 7 a year each here now and you still got to stop your truck to let a line of 30 cross, unreal. Huge nuisance here now. Far cry from when I was a little kid and you didn’t see any all year

Yeah I don’t get why NH doesn’t think they are overpopulated. Ask any hunter lol.

They actually had a massive die off a few years ago on the sea coast. Apparently for like 2 years they weren’t finding any poults. My guess is it’s a boom and bust cycle like everything else has combined with all the cats showing up, but I guess they were worried about disease.

Not enough of one lol!

I don’t even think it was a die off it was wet springs killing eggs in turn they just had them later like this year I saw so many different aged birds it was crazy

7 a year is nuts!

The population got a nice boost with that dry summer this year. Next spring should be fun.  ;D

You could be right, the bios I was emailing with seemed to think it was some disease. I can’t remember the name, but they were adamant it was prevalent even though I had never seen it in the ones in our woods with it. I will say I’m always weary of info gained mainly from “observation at bird feeders”.
