Title: First day Bear Hunting
Post by: aquaassassin on Sep 03, 2016, 02:05:55 PM: Headed out this AM to still hunt a berry patch in a saddle up north a bit I found 2 years ago. Figured with the drought there wouldn't be much to warrant a sit on said patch but there actually was. Had a Phenominal AM for as little North as I drove and not being on bait. I passed 3 Bears all by 9:30 and took great video of one climbing down from a tree and one getting up from a nap on a rock. No video of the third since I was contemplating taking it as it was the biggest but held off. All 3 were in different areas on my way to the patch where the biggest was. Figured with the cooler temp and little natural food they would be on the move and they were. I was surprised with the amount of berries and dropped Acorns though. Anyway Im not one for Apps etc. and I am not sure how to show the videos since even my pics are just copied off my wifes Facebook so I can avoid Photobucket etc. I took some still shots of the vids.

got ya!! Is it a normal thing to see?? I guess being from NY it would of been a bigger deal lol

Please do! Only saw a small buck today next Sunday is my last day to hunt bear. Expanded Maine archery this Saturday and after that I'll be NH Deer hunting. I love Bear but Whitetail with a bow is my passion. Good luck Mark!

Post by: bikrsrule on Sep 11, 2016, 09:35:22 AM: Went and checked our trail cams yesterday after bait was sitting over a week, bears at site morning and evening from the 5th until yesterday morning. I think the strong winds kept them away from the bait yesterday, it was swirling pretty good and I think we got winded. So, no bears and with the expected wind this afternoon we are going to wait until midweek..

Hit here late/early last night. Wicked windy and stupid heavy rain. Can't imagine being in a tree....
