Well my brother, my dad, and I went out on Sunday. It was pouring rain all morning and we saw nothing. We came back in the afternoon when the rain stopped. We stalked the fields and I managed to shoot my first turkey in three years. She is a small hen but I have the meat marinating in italian dressing right now. It's going to be good grillin' tonight.


Right after I shot the turkey the skies opened up again and it started thundering. Has anyone ever tried to clean a wet turkey? Man those feathers turn to glue and stick to your hands.

To answer your question on the turkey feathers......not turkey..... but ducks are the same way....lots of fun

the fall turkey hunt aroud here is limited to bow only and only 1 bird (either m or f) can be taken....

No I'm not done. We have a 2 bird limit in the fall and a 2 bird limit in the spring.

I went muzzleloading with the family up north this weekend. Tons of other hunters around. I missed a spike horn in the morning due to a missfire with the muzzleloader. Very wild weather with rain, strong wind, sleet and marble size hail. I shot a button buck during a hail storm. I thought it was a doe. It is my second deer with a muzzleloader and my second deer off of state land.

We had one winter where we had to take the shanty off the lake in the middle of Feb. because the ice got over 4.5 feet thick.
