Hi fellas, finally joined the site....
A quick story from this weekend.
Both troutski and FlagsUp!!! particpated in this past weekends youth hunt, although each did not tag out, they both learned some valuable lessons. Many new active rubs and scrapes were noticed in 3 of my 6 archery stand locations, over 50 in an area that were not present last weekend.
Troutsi(Zach) armed with a muzzleloader, got his first lesson in the "how to's" of preparations. Within 2 minutes of disbanding, Zach leading, Josh and I hear what we originally thought to be a branch snap, not once but twice and then I knew what happened. A large doe walked broadside within 25 feet of Zach, he pulled the hammer back, shot..nothing...repeated again......."Damn this muzzleoader is not working," as he turned the corner back to our location, trembling and white as a ghost. This was his first real time deer encounter while holding a firearm.
Well someone
in their excitement did not recognize that the cap had fallen off, an event that he will be telling his children about and one that will haunt him for life.
