Tough call, definitely a big bear. The dark spot on its back looks like a hump, indicating griz, can't really tell
about  a dished face. I would  need a profile before I shot it as a black bear.

These are the only pictures I have of the bear, it is a big bear I agree with er-e-is looks like he my have the hump. but his face being so big and round and his ears seem small like a griz. I looked for prints with the nails showing on the ground but he left none to dry and hard pack ground. I would like someone who knows bears to tell me. This bear was caught on camera in the South Winds where there are not suppose to be very many Griz. Thanks  Guys. Oh I now carry bear spray always had it but never carried it. This has changed my mind.

I want to call it a black bear. I've seen quite a few grizzly in the G&F office in Cody, and sows and boars both are kinda gangly looking (long legs compared to the body, even on the big bears). Don't have the quality food sources like you see on TV to make them rolly polly like that, but it's darn good country to make a big black bear.

I showed the pictures to the local game warden.  He thinks it is a black as well.

Sure looks like a grizz to me Cargo. I'm not an expert but do hunt bears and think I'm a little more knowledgeable than the average joe! Dish shaped face.....hump and a big 'ol body.

Compare for yourself......

Granted I don't think black bear is very big but nonetheless I'm almost positive you have pics of grizz!
