This is my 2005 bull...30 seconds from splitting up from Wifie, stepping across a creek where I had scouted and knew they were crossing at daylight, range 10 yards, he was the last of a herd of 12 that filed silently by, double lung shot from my Remington 30.06, 180 grain nosler partition. When I fired, Honey called me on the lil Motorola, she was 15 yards away, "You're kidding!" she said. "Nope, my love, I do not jest about the bull elk." Took us all day to pack him out 1.5 miles through the deadfall.

good luck elll-teee!  i've been in the woods for the past three days and nights: nothing exceptional to report yet, but plenty of photos collected to bring back to you guys at the end of september.  i've already got about twenty pictures on the digital camera of scenerie shots, long-range buck portraits, and pictures of buck-beds, and i've still got about fifteen days up there.  nice bull!  right before i came out of the woods two nights ago the bulls were starting to heat up pretty heavily.  i plan to go back and spend a little more time on the bucks, but if the elk rut gets to be in full swing, there will be no denying the pull towards the dark timber and the bugle and cow-call.

it's a beast.  do you know where in the wyoming p & y book it stands?  if it is 350, it should probably be in the top 20 or 30...

I'm not sure where he's at in the P&Y.I'm sure there are bigger in there.. I took a calf this year and have been regretting it ever since. So I vowed from now on to hunt for a 370 or better during the first three weeks of the season. Last week anything goes.
