Had a doe come buy the stand Sunday morning. Watched her munch on some acorns for a while behind me. I could tell she wasn't a big one but decided if she step into a shooting lane I was going to try and fill a tag (especially after eating tag soup last year). She stepped out at about 33 yards and let it fly. Felt pretty good about the shot, maybe a little further back than I would have like (she started to walk again just as I was touching off). Heard her crash not to far off. Gave it an hour and climbed down to check things out. Found the arrow with good blood and no signs of stomach or "guts"
Decent blood the first 20 yds, then seemed to dry up. I quickly learned that following a blood trail with bright orange and red tinted maple leaves on the ground is challenging. Managed to find her after a little searching, she didn't make it as far as it sounded. Piled up in a depression about 60 yards from where I shot her.
Dressed out at 85lbs. Happy to have some meat in the freezer.
