The guys that are worried about too many M tags should just buy more and burn them. Don't stop buying them, that just lets someone else that wants to shoot a doe buy it. I say buy them up and don't use them if you're concerned about the herd numbers.

That's what I've done since they started selling them,

Looks like there were 4000 available and they sold out!! Someone believes they're worth it!

Personally, I think they should issue as many as they can, I hate seeing those rich people getting all their expensive bushes eaten up! ;)

Um. They sell out every year. usually go on sale mid summer and sell out before the season starts. they sell to 4000 people with the option to buy 2 if you want. So up to 8000 tags if every one bought 2. Imagine what the herd would be like if they all got filled.

Wonder why our deer herd is in trouble! It's about money, not managing a resource... dumb asses!

10% of hunters shoot 90% of the deer. I wouldnt get too up in arms on how many they sell.

This is very true. I think most guy's don't like the amount of pressure it creates in there spots not the amount of deer that get shot.  I remember seeing a harvest report recently on the M tags. Can't seem to find it again but if I remember correctly less than 25% or the tags get filled each year anyways.

I have an idea... no doe permits... let successful hunters go online to register their deer... when the quota is reached in any given zone, the doe season is over. This gives everyone a fair chance... the only problem I see is lazy hunters or should I say poachers taking advantage of this.... then again they probably already do!

F&G would probably not like this... after all, they maybe as interested in money as managing the resource.

I would say that was true about fish but to say that about hunting especially deer , I strongly disagree. But as far as the tags go in my opinion it is all about the state boys meeting payroll.

i saw this on F&G's FB page:

Here are the statistics for 2012:
Of the 4,000 permit holders, 616 took 1 deer and 133 took 2 resulting in 18.7% of permittees being successful in taking at least one deer.

Of the 2,461 hunters with 2 tags, 133 (5.4%) filled both.
Over the last 5 years on average 13.1% of the tags are filled. An average of 6,227 permits were issued over the same 5 years.

I still think they should break unit M into several individual zone's. They can play there $$$$$ games. But not over hunt vulnerable area's. set season dates just like they do in other parts of the state.

Do any of you think that would work?

Thanks!
So really that's not alot of extra does being taken, of course that doesn't count for the amount that are taken during Muzzleloader and the first 10 day's of rifle with a regular hunting license tag. Kind of makes you wonder why more don't get shoot if there is really that many of them. Sure a few people by them and don't ever really try to fill them.
