same thing happened to me except a wood chuck came by. If we weren't hunters and see this stuff for ourselves we wouldn't believe there was that much out there. It sure is a beautiful world in the wild. Keep after them.

hey guys hope the last week or so has been good in the woods for you, i was away in mexico and saw more deer golfing down there than i have in the woods.. we saw a doe jogging on the fairway and i thought to myself something has to be chasing her not a minute later an 8 pointer came out nose to the ground circling over every spot the doe walked he was so oblivious i ended up getting about 6 ft away from him and he could care less (dumb i know). i hunted a total of 4 days over this past week mostly when i got back from the trip and only saw a couple beavers making noise in the swamp. the friday before i left i fly fished for broodstocks with my buddy we ended up getting 3 so that was a cool experience i hunted the evening and had something walking through the swamp and it must of spooked a beaver cuz it slapped its tail which inturn scared the potential deer oh well the season should start heating up any time now. here is a pic of the first broodstock i caught on my 6 wt.

nothing  but a fisher cat last night with 15 minutes left of shooting light, i thought it was a deer coming in butttttt it wasnt, this was my 15th sit and have only seen two deer on stand this yr. I havent even seen deer in the area while driving this year. this is strange because i usually see a few every couple days at least driving around.

moved a stand from another part of the state on friday after looking at some topo's of an area i hunt and found an appealing spot to put the stand. When i went in there was sign everywhere and a real nice ridge that i located from thew topo's so i found a nice spot an hung my stand. Walking out i found a rub and some old scrapes so i was pretty excited to hunt the next day. I woke up at 5 so i could get in the stand a good 45 min before shooting light it was cold and i was hopeful. Around 730 i started seeing "pumpkins" walking around making a ton of noise so i stuck it out until 830 when i had enough of seeing them. i got back in the stand at 245 saturday evening it was windy and cold i couldnt hear much so i was relying alot on sight. at about 540 i catch a glimpse of a deer at about 80 yards it must have slipped past me some how so i hit the doe can to try and turn it, nothing. About a minute later to my right at about the same distance i notice 3 more deer coming. Two of them start sparring a bit (younger bucks) and a doe so i hit the doe can to see if i can get them interested in coming my direction. Well the bucks stayed and the doe B lined for me i drew back before she got in my shooting lane and she walked right into it maaaaaarrrrrrpppp i stop her and let the meat misile do the work at about 15 yards. She takes off and tips over about 50 yards away from where i shot deer down! Now hopefully i get a repeat this weekend with the muzzleloader. Checking in the doe the next morning i met The Buthcer, Jared great meetin you buddy.
